28 November 2005 THE DEPRAVITY OF THE BRITISH ARMY Michael Evans (Extracted from "Naked fight film sparks calls for new crackdown on bullies", The Times, 28 November 2005 "Secretly filmed video of a brutal initiation ceremony among naked Royal Marine commandos led to calls last night for an independent system to investigate complaints of bullying within the Armed Forces. The shots of two naked Royal Marine commandos appearing to take part in some form of gladiatorial fight before one is kicked unconscious by a non-commissioned officer provoked outrage yesterday among MPs and former military commanders." [Ed And, as we all saw on TV last night, the male non-commissioned officer who knee-kicked one recruit into unconsciousness was dressed in a blouse and skirt. This is not bullying as we know the term in ordinary language but depravity of a strange sexual sort. And were the deaths over the years at Deepcut Army Base "suicides" or really killings? (Note that the deaths were of a very pretty female and some handsome male soldiers.) And was the photo in the Daily Mirror of a year ago of a British soldier urinating over an alleged hooded Iraqi prisoner a fake -- as the army protested it was? No charges have been laid against the soldier who has been identified. Two years ago, a middle-ranking army recruitment officer seriously proposed to the press that the army should enrol beggers in the streets of London -- until he was shut-up by his superior officers. It is no wonder that recruitment into the army is falling through the floor.]
