BUT WHOSE TEAM WILL IT BE?

Peter Baker and Jim VandeHei (Extracted from "Presidents Past Inspire Bush's Damage Control", Washington Post , 25 October, 2005)

"Facing a convergence of crises threatening his administration, President Bush and his team are devising plans to salvage the remainder of his presidency by applying the lessons of past two-term chief executives and refocusing attention on the president's larger economic and foreign policy goals."

[Ed: The question to ask now is whether the "team" that's talked about above is to be President Bush's own team or whether it's that of Vice-president Cheney which, so far, has driven the administration into the ground with so many grevious mistakes in its first five years. Apart from Condoleeza Rice, whose personal loyalty to Bush is well-known it is difficult to know just who this miraculous team comprises. If Bush seriously wishes to achieve "larger economic and foreign policy goals" then the best thing he could do is to clear Cheney and Rumsfeld out of the way first.]
