8 October 2005 THE MALE LUST FOR POWER Jim Rutenberg and Patrick D. Healy (Extracted from "Bloomberg spends $46.6 million of his own money on race", New York Times, 8 October 2003)"Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has already spent nearly $50 million of his own money on his re-election campaign, according to campaign records released yesterday, far ahead of the phenomenal pace of his spending in the 2001 election and putting him on track to break all records for expenditures for any office except the presidency." (Ed: What is it about the male lust for power that politicians and parties have to spend so much money in order to be top dog? The answer is that it is genetically built into us because for millions of years only those groups or tribes with strong leaders managed to survive. When the Asian bird flu has come and gone, leaving us with a thinned-out human population, perhaps enough young anthropologists will survive in order to better inform us how modern governances may be constructed.]
